{"id":646,"date":"2022-04-13T12:05:34","date_gmt":"2022-04-13T12:05:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/med.pedis.uop.gr\/?p=646"},"modified":"2022-04-13T12:05:36","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T12:05:36","slug":"call-for-applications-master-of-arts-m-a-in-mediterranean-studies-academic-year-2022-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/med.pedis.uop.gr\/?p=646","title":{"rendered":"Call for Applications Master of Arts (M.A.) in Mediterranean Studies (Academic year 2022\/2023)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"block-21ebd90b-de01-4c4c-871c-d8ba1606ebad\">The <strong>Department of Political Science and International Relations<\/strong> of the University of the Peloponnese (Greece), in partnership with the <strong>Institute&nbsp; \u03bff<\/strong> <strong>International Relations&nbsp;(IDIS)<\/strong> of Panteion University of Athens and in cooperation with<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-f39c62a0-1b8b-48fc-8e95-80dd89fa9e77\"><li>the <strong>Department of Political and Social Sciences and the Department of Cultural Heritage <\/strong>of the University of Bologna (Italy),<\/li><li><strong>INALCO &#8211; Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales <\/strong>of the Universit\u00e9 Sorbonne Paris Cit\u00e9 (France),<\/li><li>the <strong>Department of International Relations<\/strong> of the Ya\u015far University (Turkey),<\/li><li>the <strong>Department of Economics and Finance <\/strong>of the Neapolis University of Pafos (Cyprus)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-eb37ce81-c648-4260-b7c2-96a3a3431895\">offer a Postgraduate Program in <em>Mediterranean Studies<\/em>. The Program will receive up to <strong>26 students<\/strong> for the academic year 2022-2023.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-1d0e7ea4-6099-479e-a85c-8cef31d4ef30\"><strong>Description of &nbsp;Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-543bca57-4c30-4041-aaec-dc7c6d612fed\">The MA in <em>Mediterranean Studies<\/em> is designed to be a flexible and dynamic umbrella program that covers a wide variety of issues and problems across different disciplines (i.e., Political Science, International Relations, Cultural Studies, and Economics). It is premised on a multidimensional approach to an array of pressing, though interdependent, questions such as conflict, security and nationalism; democratization, civil society and the Arab Spring; Cultures and multiculturalism; women\u2019s issues and activism; economic crisis and development; and energy security and environmental challenges. The structure of the program facilitates the diverse contributions of faculty of the different participating institutions, enabling and sustaining the program\u2019s wide-ranging focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-6b724df7-2197-4d11-ab79-05265c98bb56\"><strong>Deadline for Application: 31 August 2022. <\/strong>Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early and avoid last-minute increased competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-8d084f3c-9a4f-40dd-963c-a973d820f042\"><strong>Duration of studies: <\/strong>Twelve months, full time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-b987b826-f208-4c66-84fa-2e25b8d7a095\"><strong>Title Awarded:<\/strong> Master of Arts (M.A.) in <em>Mediterranean Studies<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-f30e7cfa-e2f0-4a45-a79b-69f41df61dcc\">The degree is awarded from the University of the Peloponnese upon successful completion of the program\u2019s requirements. All partnering institutions are explicitly mentioned in the Diploma Supplement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-f3f45453-e56d-44c6-96d3-fe84796c7ebf\">The program\u2019s requirements correspond to 75 ECTS credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-d9d9a114-0cb6-463a-af1a-8c74fabc456e\"><strong>Language of instruction: <\/strong>English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-c1214ae5-68f5-4936-8230-0d222f653c71\"><strong>Location:<\/strong> Students attend courses in the coastal city of Corinth, in Greece. One third of the courses are organized with the use of distance learning methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-85234e7d-8f04-4117-a2f6-4816a7764e00\"><strong>Tuition Fees: <\/strong>Three thousand euro (\u20ac3,000). Tuition fees can be paid in three installments. Installments amounts are: 1000\u20ac (upon registration), 1000\u20ac (by 15 January 2023), and 1000\u20ac (by 15 Apil 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-0c071824-d65f-46cf-9e14-99ccfb67354f\">Tuition fees are waived for EU students whose personal and family income does not exceed 100% and 70% of national median equivalent disposal income respectively, according to the latest data published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ElStat). The waiver is provided for one postgraduate program only. The number of students benefiting from the waiver cannot exceed 30% of all students admitted to the postgraduate program. If the number of those eligible exceeds that proportion, those admitted to the program are selected starting from those with the lowest income (art.35, para 2, Law 4485\/2017).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-91471d9a-d651-415b-9298-500e8814c9d4\">Greek students may also seek to receive a grant for their postgraduate studies from the \u2018LAEK 0.24\u2019 program of OAED (for more information see: <a href=\"http:\/\/laek.oaed.gr\/\">http:\/\/laek.oaed.gr\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-d5aad97d-60b1-4613-ae28-038e13e9e969\"><em>The Department provides two merit-based full tuition fee waivers for economically disadvantaged students coming from non-EU Mediterranean countries with an outstanding profile.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-2ad8d5d6-8327-4db2-a5d1-97d75d34d54a\"><strong>Admission Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-a385ae48-5f2b-46e2-b823-112cb1154351\">The program invites graduates of Departments of domestic Universities and Higher Technological Institutes and graduates of foreign recognized equivalent institutions to submit their candidacy for enrollment. Applicant students should have a degree (at least second class honours) in a relevant field of study (e.g., Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Cultural Studies, Economics and Law). Applicant students should also have excellent command of English. Previous professional experience and any other relevant skills (e.g., knowledge of other languages spoken in the Mediterranean) will be considered too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-1aef6534-75e8-4b53-9625-c5fd7745ba4e\"><strong>Students holding a first degree from a foreign institution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-045af227-a118-4bc6-95c3-e5f90dd48d3d\">Students holding a first degree from a foreign institution should recognize the equivalence of their Academic Titles following acceptance to the program by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Center (NARIC \/ DOATAP). For more info see: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doatap.gr\/en\/index.php\">http:\/\/www.doatap.gr\/en\/index.php<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-4876a80e-4686-4df1-89f4-9a0c6ceef829\"><strong>Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-a64c2550-6139-48fc-a836-6fa91b66408f\">Applications are being evaluated according to the following criteria:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-92ca4a9f-7065-4a65-a461-0e34a0534c09\"><li>Degree grade:&nbsp;40%&nbsp;<\/li><li>Relevant&nbsp;work experience and\/or&nbsp;grades obtained in the most relevant undergraduate courses to the MA\u2019s subject matter: 20%<\/li><li>Thesis grade (if a thesis was written during undergraduate studies): 5%&nbsp;<\/li><li>Research experience: 5%&nbsp;<\/li><li>Interview: 30%.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-2f21315b-c86d-4ac2-9b52-082dc230c87d\"><strong>Recommendation letters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-524f72a8-b2d8-4725-9e08-026dc8e78533\">The recommendation letters can be submitted in two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-4176df29-d842-4547-8350-9e54e2baecb2\">1)&nbsp;By mail.&nbsp;&nbsp;In this case the reference letter must be in closed envelope and be sent by mail to the address: University of the Peloponnese, Department of Political Science and International Relations, 1 Aristotelous St. &amp; Athinon Ave, (1st Floor), Corinth, GR-20132, Greece (for the MA MED)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-6791d967-61c2-45ce-a664-f2e4183c332d\">2) By e-mail. In this case the referees should send themselves their letters of recommendation to the following email address <a href=\"mailto:pms-med@uop.gr\">pms-med@uop.gr<\/a>. The sending address must be the official academic or professional email (recommendation letter sent by personal email address &nbsp;e.g. gmail, hotmail, will not be accepted).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-ed009fb2-59b8-45f0-bf6f-dab1876ad860\"><strong>Applications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-7c6eff2f-5360-49a9-ad22-053d55be480b\"><a href=\"https:\/\/econtent.pedis.uop.gr\/forms\/index.php\/972441?lang=en\"><strong>Applications should be submitted<\/strong> <strong>online<\/strong> <\/a>until <strong>31 of August<\/strong> <strong>2022<\/strong>.
